STING and GIL EVANS, an unforgettable concert, Umbria Jazz '87

One of my best memories is a concert at Umbria Jazz 1987, when STING and GIL EVANS plays an unforgettable concert together. Sting becomes from a sequence of success and Gil Evans, that I had fortune to knows personally that year , when He was 74 years, was a very friendly, raw and a "True old hippie" that played at Woodstock in 1969 with his orchestra. In his life, Evans - born in Canada in 1912 - has many collaborations : Miles Davis, Count Basie, Gerry Mulligan, in '50s in U.S. bebop is the "trend" and Gil Evans was one of most important experimental jazz-man that's playing with these "monsters" of Music done a very extraordinary experience. He liked Jimi Hendrix's music and in '75 made a album with these songs. When meets Sting, another fan of Jimi Hendrix to choose the songs are easy: most of them will be from Jimi Hendrix repertory. The concert started at 14.00 P:M: (!!) with some young group, youg but goods, only after 8 hours under Italy summer's sun ( with 35 celsius grades!!!); We was in 10 persons, all my friends that times, was so my love (of that time). We had with us few pizza and some vino , that you think: vino + sun + music.... only when You are too Youg You can do these things...At 22.00 p.m. Sting and Gil Evans comes.. The principal Perugia's football Stadium was full 40-50.000 persons (very much for a Jazz concert) ; when Sting start to plays the old Police's "hits" all stadium crazy and at 24,00 they start to play an incredible song, this one:
